you for your interest in Sédohr -- Weddings with a French Twist.
Destination weddings are
immensely popular and it is exciting to be involved in this growing industry. The joy of
working with couples in creating a dream wedding is rewarding and extra special to me
because of my love for France and my deep appreciation for its beauty, history, and
diversity, not to mention its wine and food!
Couples have grown tired of
the hassle and stress so often created by the traditional wedding --the pressure to
conform to a certain standard, feeling obligated to cater to family and friends in a way
that detracts from the meaning and romance of the event itself, and huge guest lists. In
addition, the expense of a traditional wedding -- banquet facilities, receptions, dinners,
caterers, photography and videography, church rental, clergy and musician fees, etc. --
can be formidable. When couples realize they can travel to an exotic and romantic locale,
such as France, and experience a ceremony created just for them in an intimate and unique
setting for less than the cost of a traditional stateside wedding, they find the prospect
quite attractive. Sédohr helps make dreams come true.
The clientele of Sédohr are
as varied as French cheese. Some have traveled extensively, while for several it has been
their first trip outside their home country. While some bring with them a few family
members or close friends, many choose simply to travel alone. One couple shared, "We
're being rebellious and eloping! This is our time! We'll have a party with family and
friends later!" Though spring and summer are obvious travel times for France, we
marry couples year round. One couple even chose to have a January ceremony, at a chateau
right outside of Paris. The bride notes, "The wedding was beautiful! It was great
being in France when the tourists were elsewhere! [The minister's] accent was perfect for
the setting, he sounded as if he simply belonged there."
In working with couples, we
seek to tailor a ceremony that will be meaningful for them, regardless of their faith
background. While some want an overtly religious ceremony, others desire simply a ceremony
with integrity and a certain spirituality. Our desire is to make the day a meaningful one
for our clients. As one groom shares, "I'm sure this will prove to be the greatest
day of our lives."
Besides assisting couples in
locating a suitable venue for their wedding and explaining the details of getting married
in France, Sédohr provides an official to conduct the ceremony and works with the couple
in creating a meaningful marriage service. The ceremony can include a wine celebration,
which has been a big hit, not surprisingly, in France. If they choose, couples bring a
bottle of their favorite wine and the glass from which they drink; therefore they are able
to relive the experience at future anniversaries. The service can be in English or French,
or a combination of both.
In addition to the above-mentioned services, champagne, bouquet, and
a souvenir certificate are also provided. By virtue of living five years in Paris, I am
also able to recommend photographers, videographers, and florists.
Thank you for visiting our
website, and I look forward to hearing from you.
