nlike in the United States and many other countries, religious officials in France do not act on behalf of the state. This means that all French residents must be married civilly before a religious ceremony can take place. In order for a non-French couple to be married civilly in France, residency of a minimum of forty (40) days must be established. Obviously, this is not a viable option for most couples.
In view of French policy, Sédohr offers two easy alternatives:
Be married civilly by a representative in the jurisdiction in which you reside. Have a ceremony (religious or secular) in France.
Have a ceremony (religious or secular) in France, and upon return to your residence get legally married in your local court. If you choose this option, please note that the ceremony in France does not constitute legal marriage in France or any other country.
The wedding department of Sédohr does not operate as a travel agent. This means that travel arrangements, including accommodations and reservations, are the responsibility of the wedding party. However, the Sédohr staff is happy to make suggestions for appropriate venues for wedding ceremonies.
Vow renewals
Sédohr happily works with couples who desire to renew their wedding vows. What better way to celebrate an anniversary!
